AGE-u-cate Training Institute Offers Over Fifty Compassionate Touch® Scholarships to Support Long-term Care Providers, Elders and Care Partners

BEDFORD, TX – June 1, 2020 – AGE-u-cate Training Institute, a global company devoted to providing quality, innovative and research-based aging and dementia training, is expressing their gratitude to long term care providers, their elders and staff, by offering The Touching Moments Scholarship Award Program, covering 100% of training for its cutting-edge Compassionate Touch® program, a total gift of over $30,000.

Compassionate Touch® is an evidence-informed approach combining effective skilled touch techniques together with specialized communication that has proven to ease stress, anxiety, behaviors and reduce the use of anti-psychotic medications, improving the quality of life and quality of care for elders, especially those living with dementia. Age-u-cate has trained thousands of coaches within hundreds of organizations to bring this easytouse, holistic approach to person-centered care and create culture change by tapping into the power of human touch and human connection.

The Touching Moments Scholarship Program will award 51 organizations, one from each state and the District of Columbia to receive training that will designate them as a Certified Compassionate Touch® Community.

Recipients may be from Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, Assisted Living with Memory Care, Home Care Providers or Hospice Providers. Application forms are available at ageucate.comApplications will be accepted until July 31, 2020. We will begin announcing award recipients from each state beginning August 10, 2020.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to give back to our amazing care providers, elders and staff during this unprecedented and challenging time of the pandemic”, said Pam Brandon, AGE-u-cate’s President and Founder.  “The transformative power of human connection and touch is needed now more than ever.  Compassionate Touch has proven benefits for our elders, especially those living with dementia and at end of life, but also for care partners and their families.  We know that when Compassionate Touch is implemented and used, its benefits are amazing.”

The Touching Moments Scholarship Award entitles recipients to become a Compassionate Touch® Certified Community.  A Certified Community license allows three persons from each organization to take comprehensive online Certified Coach

Training, allowing them to teach other staff members and champion the program within their organization.  AGE-u-cate supports Coaches with online resources, videos, newsletters, and educational webinars.  Once a community or organization has met the training and implementation requirements, it is designated as a Compassionate Touchâ Certified Community.

Through this program, we want to highlight the incredible work of our healthcare heroes across the country.  “We want to hear about their Touching Moments, positive stories and showcase the exemplary work of those devoted to caring for our elders”, added Brandon.  “In the midst of so many challenges, we want to share with others all the good being done day in and day out that are changing lives.”

“The staff enjoyed the training and were excited to work with some of the residents we knew would benefit. The activities department took a huge role in working with the residents and using Compassionate Touch® to help decrease anxiety. Actually, we are using it even more now as residents are cooped up and feeling a loss of control.” Katie-LNHA, North Carolina
